The Cornerstone volleyball squad came out strong winning the opening set, 25-20, on Wednesday and rolled their way through the final two sets, 25-19 and 25-17, as they swept WHAC opponent UM-Dearborn. The Golden Eagles improve to 16-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference action while the Wolves drop to 13-10 overall and 1-5 in conference action.
Johanna Egerer led the squad posting eight kills while Becky Albrecht and Megan Newhouse were not far behind posting six kills respectively on Wednesday. Kim Weaver (28) was the team's leader in assists and Abby Miedema led the team in double-digit digs with 18. The Golden Eagles had a set-high attacking percentage in set two notching a .300 while holding the Wolves to a .091 percentage in the same set. UM-Dearborn was led by seven kills notched by Tiffany Brufladt, Emily Tjapkes' 11 assists, and Brufladt's 10 digs on Wednesday night.
Cornerstone will head to Illinois to participate in the St. Francis Tournament while facing Trinity International, St. Francis, Ashford, and Saint Ambrose University. Matches will be set for Friday and Saturday.
