(Tucson, Ariz.) The Golden Eagles faced #8 ranked Concordia University - Irvine in their first game today and came away with a 10-2 loss. Concordia started out quickly scoring seven runs in the first 4 innings of play. The Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard in the top of the 5th inning. Rachel Doornbos singled to start the inning and advanced to 2nd base on a single by Kaitlyn Carlson. Lauren Pasciak walked to load the bases and Doornbos scored on a sacrifice fly by Tahni Bruno. Madison Bucilla doubled in the 6th inning and scored on a Rachel Doornbos for Cornerstone's 2nd run of the game. Concordia scored three runs in the last two innings and won the game 10-2. The Golden Eagles drop to 0-3 on the season while the Eagles of Concordia improved to 22-2 on the season.
Cornerstone faced Robert Morris (Ill.) in their second game of the day. The Eagles of Robert Morris scored four runs in the top of the 3rd inning to go up 4-0. Cornerstone did not score until the top of the 7th inning when Haley Castillo knocked in Kaitlyn Carlson on an infield hit to the third baseman. The Golden Eagles failed to score any more runs and ended with a 4-1 loss to Robert Morris. Cornerstone drops to 0-4 on the season. The Golden Eagles will have Sunday off and will return to action on Monday when they take on Viterbo (Wisc.) and #15 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.)
