Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are excited to announce the signing of Johnny Rodriguez, a catcher and third baseman from Miami Jackson High School in Florida. Born in Cuba, Johnny has lived in South Florida since he was a young boy and is eager to move up to Grand Rapids in the fall. Johnny is the starting catcher for his high school team and is off to an outstanding start to his senior season. He is currently hitting .481 with a .778 slugging percentage.

When asked about his choice of Cornerstone University, Johnny said, "I'm really excited to attend Cornerstone University this fall and be a part of a baseball program with coaches and teammates who have a love for God and a passion for baseball. I'm really looking forward to playing baseball for CU and starting the journey to a championship."

Coach Mitroff said, "Johnny is a high-energy player filled with a passion for baseball. We expect his love for the game to shine brightly on the field and his genuine spirit for others to shine on campus. Johnny is a very athletic catcher and a middle-of-the-order hitter with gap to gap power. We are blessed to continue to find players like Johnny who want to be a part of Cornerstone athletics."
