Cornerstone University welcomes Jill Steenwyk to the Women's Basketball program.Jill is from Sparta, Mich. and has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cornerstone beginning in the fall of 2012.Jill attends Sparta High School in Sparta, Mich where she was a 4 year varsity player.


The 6-1 forward is a three time All-Conference performer in the O.K. Blue Division. As a senior Jill averaged a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds per game and led the team in points (231) and rebounds (235). She was Sparta's leading rebounder for the past three years. Over three years Steenwyk has grabbed 532 rebounds, blocked 106 shots, stolen 133 passes and scored 532 points. Her senior year she helped Sparta claim their first ever District Championship. 

Jill has a heart for kids and plans to major in Education with an emphasis in learning disabilities.

"Jill will help fill the void of graduating senior post player, Sam Flietstra. Jill and 6-3 post player, Jill Hendrickson, have the potential to be a formidable force in the paint for the Golden Eagles. She has a knack for getting rebounds and she has the potential to be a potent scorer. I am excited to see the impact she will have on this team next year and in her career."
