It has been a great summer so far for the Golden Eagles golf team as current, old and new players from the program have had a great summer so far. Former Golden Eagle golfer Chet Vandenberg has qualified for the Michigan Open held at The Orchards Golf Club. Chetfired a 67 in the first round to tie for 2nd 1 shot behind last years winner. Chet will have a short week ashe will play in the Michigan Am starting on the following Monday. Coach Campbell says, "Chet is that guy who just continues to work and get better. Chet is making golf his career and he continues to work hard and improve his skills. It is fun to watch him play." 3 other Golden Eagles will be competing along side Chet at the Michigan Am as current player and team captain Zach Mick, and stand out incoming players Zach Preuss and Anthony "Drew" DeMarti have all qualified for playing in that event.Before Zach Preuss can start his Mich Am, he and another incoming freshman Tyler Coyne will be leading their Oakland Christian HS team in defending their State Championship from last year. We wish all the Golden Eagle golfers great success this summer as it will be a busy playing schedule to get ready for this fall season.
