The Golden Eagles squad looked to continue their three game win streak coming into day one of the tournament with tough matches against No. 6 Embry-Riddle and Campbellsville University on Friday. Match times were played at 2 p.m. (EST) and 6 p.m. (EST) in Bourbonnais, Illinois. 

Cornerstone found themselves in a tough battle against first opponent, Embry-Riddle, on Friday afternoon. Coming into the match, Embry-Riddle was ranked No. 6 in the country with a 6-2 record. Their big losses of the season came from No. 1 Texas at Brownsville (1-3) and No. 3 Lee (0-3) but a win highlighting WHAC foe, No. 16 Madonna (3-0). The Golden Eagles came out strong in the first two sets winning, 27-25 and 25-21. However, the Embry-Riddle Eagles were not going to go away easily by winning the next two sets with back-to-back scores of 25-17. The match came down to the fifth and final set with Cornerstone coming away with the final score of 15-12. With the win, Cornerstone improves to 5-1 overall. 

The Golden Eagles squad had little time to celebrate their big win when they faced Campbellsville University on Friday night. After losing the first set of the match, 23-25, Cornerstone came out strong and won the next three sets to take the match. With the win, Cornerstone notched their second win of the day and fifth game in a row improving their record to 6-1 overall.

On Saturday, the Golden Eagles will face opponents Trevecca Nazarene and Georgetown College. Cornerstone has already faced Georgetown once before this season and came away with a win so Georgetown will look to get revenge on the Golden Eagles. Match times are set for 2:30 p.m. (EST) and 4:30 (EST)
