The Golden Eagles got off the bus ready to play today against the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech.  Kelley Ritsema had a couple of early chances and her second shot rebounded off the GK who had come out to the top of the box to make the save but Riley Steen hit a first time shot that best the GK as she attempted to get back into position.  Amanda Van Laar made it 2-0 in the 18th minute on a Kerri Hoffman assist.  Hoffman beat a couple of the players down the left side and slotted a ball across the face of the goal to Van Laar who found the back of the net on a first time shot.  The Golden Eagles almost got a third from Kelley Ritsema but the Blue Devil keeper made a great save to keep the score at 2-0 for the half.

Cornerstone started the second half much like the first.  Rachel Schutter recorded her first goal of the season in the 49th minute on a pass from Rebekah Eggleston.  Schutter scored another in the 65th minute of play on a nice pass back from Teigan Mitcham.  Mitcham beat players down the end line and laid a perfect pass back to Schutter who one touched the ball into the right side of the goal.  Mitcham then got one of her own on a corner kick.  Charlene Kehoe served a nice corner into the box and Mitcham slammed a volley into the goal from about 6 yards out.  The Golden Eagles gave up a later free kick to make the final score 5-1.  Cornerstone improves to 10-2 on the season and 2-1 in the WHAC.  The Golden Eagles will play at Aquinas on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
