Cornerstone got a couple of early goals and kept Siena Heights off the board to defeat the Saints 2-0 today.  Cornerstone had three chances early in the half that were blocked by defenders or the GK right in front of the goal but none found their way into the goal.   Kerri Hoffman took a pass from Kelley Ritsema, beat a couple of defenders across the top of the box and hit a shot into the upper right of the goal over the Saints keeper to put the Golden Eagles 1-0 in the 18th minute.  Anna Stegink made it 2-0 in the 25th minute.  Stegink hit a free kick from about 30 yards the went over the keeper and hit the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal.  The Saints did have a couple of chances in the first half but Kathy Butt came up with a big save on one and the other hit the crossbar.  The Golden Eagles knew that they would have to weather the storm a bit in the second half playing against the wind and a determined Saints team and that is exactly what happpened.  The Saints kept the Golden Eagles pinned in their own half most of the half but the Golden Eagles did keep them from scoring to finish with a 2-0 win.  Cornerstone improves to 4-1 in the WHAC and 12-2 overall.  Cornerstone will return to action on Saturday at 4:30 when they host Marygrove on Senior Day.
