
Cornerstone right-hander Heidi Warmelink has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played March 4-10, the conference announced today. Warmelink, a native of Dorr, Mich., receives the first weekly honor from the WHAC this season.
The right handed pitcher helped the Golden Eagles finish 10-2 last week in Florida at the NTC Spring Games. Warmelink went 6-0 and had a save with a 0.72 ERA during the Florida contests. The junior recorded four complete games during the week, allowing just 20 hits and one shutout game against Bellevue University. Warmelink held her opponents to a .146 batting average while striking out 39 batters and walking only five opponents.
Cornerstone will host their first game of the season, Saturday against Lake Superior State University for a double-header. First pitch at Cornerstone is scheduled for 2 p.m.
