(Kentwood, Mich.) The Golden Eagles broke their 9 game losing streak with a pair of wins over Calvin today. Jessica Kuhlman led the Golden Eagles with 3 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI at the plate. Melanie Creager had 2 hits and 2 RBI's as well. Cornerstone scored 2 runs in the first inning and 2 runs in the fifth inning. Calvin scored 1 run in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. Kaycee Kuiper went the distance for the Golden Eagles to pick up her 5th win of the season.

Cornerstone started Game 2 out well scoring 4 runs in the first three innings but it would eventually take extra innings to earn the win. Calvin tied the score at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The teams started the 8th inning with a runner on 2nd base. Dinah Gruppen hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Rachel Gruppen to 3rd base. Victoria Risenhoover grounded out to the SS and Gruppen scored to make it 5-4 after the top of the inning. Calvin started out with a fielder's choice which placed runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs. Cornerstone pulled off a rare double play when they threw out the runner stealing 2nd and then the other runner trying to steal home on the same play. Madison Bucilla then struck out the last batter to go the distance for her third win of the season. Cornerstone improves to 9-28 on the season. The Golden Eagles will travel down to play Indiana Tech tomorrow for a WHAC double header.
