The Cornerstone men's soccer team dropped their final regular season game to theWHAC champions of Aquinas on Wednesday in overtime by a score of 2-3. The Golden Eagles struck first less than two minutes into the game when Brian Nimmo took a Nic Tolsma pass into thenet for the score and the 1-0 lead. The Saints responded with a goal of their own just minutes later to even the score. Late in the first half, CU claimed theadvantage for the second time on an Isaac Grotenhuis goal to put the Golden Eagles up 2-1. Cornerstone held onto the lead late into the second half until Aquinas tied the game (2-2)with less than ten minutes remaining in regulation. In the first overtime session, Aquinas' Jeo Pantoja scoredhis third goal of the gameto capture the 3-2win.

Cornerstone outshot Aquinas 27-9 with the Saints taking the 8-7 advantage with shots on goal. Golden Eagle keeper Dan Kerstan had five saves on the day in the loss. CU finished the regular season with an overall record of 9-7-2 and went 6-4-2 in conference play.

While the Saints had already secured the league crown, the Golden Eagles came into the game tied with Indiana Tech battling for second place and home field advantage for round one of the conference tournament. With the Cornerstone loss and an Indiana Tech win, CU will now go on the road to face the Warriors for semifinal action on Saturday at 2:00pm on Indiana Tech's home field. The winner of that contest will play in the WHAC finals scheduled for November 14th.
