The young Golden Eagles started their season with #22 Houghton at the Spring Arbor Invitational today and came up short in a 2-0 loss to the Highlanders. Cornerstone had an early chance to score when Ashleigh Lund
had a ball fall at her feet off of a free kick in the 2nd minute of the game but she couldn't get over the top of the ball and put her shot over the crossbar. The Highlanders struck in the 9th and 23rd minute on goals by Erin Miller. Miller took a long throw across the top of the box and buried a shot to the far post at 8:26. Miller then went on a long run through the middle of the field in the 23rd minute of play and beat Alyssa Morrow
in a 1 va. 1 to goal. Cornerstone settled down a bit in the 2nd half but never really created many good scoring chances. The Golden Eagles will return to action tomorrow when they take on Roberts Wesleyan College at 3:00 p.m.. Roberts Wesleyan lost 3-2 in OT to host Spring Arbor.
