Volleyball - Sat, Aug. 28, 2010
The volleyball team opened the 2010-2011 season with a 3-1 win over Spring Arbor University. The Golden Eagles won the first two games 25-20, 26-24 but faltered in the third losing 25-18. They closed the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Senior Alicia TerHaar led the team with 12 kills, 3 Aces and 2 blocks. Sophomore Becky Albrecht led the team with 9 digs and Tamra Bethke dished out 22 assists. Megan April also added 2 blocks.
The Golden Eagles were unable to win back to back matches losing 3-1 to St. Francis Ill. CU won a tight first game 25-23 before dropping the next three 25-27, 25-22, 25-16. Alicia TerHaar and Jodi Grandholm led the team with 9 kills and 3 blocks. Becky Albrecht paced the Golden Eagles with 11 digs and Bethke added 23 assists. Albrecht and Grandholm both had 3 aces in the loss. The Golden Eagles play St. Catherines (KY) at 8:45 a.m. and St. Xavier at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
