Cornerstone dropped their sixth straight match and second straight WHAC match to the Madonna Crusaders. Madonna took advantage of the home court in game one taking an early 12-4 lead. Megan April
recorded three consecutive kills to tie the score at 16-16. But the Crusaders rallied to win the first game 25-21.
The second game started much the same way with the Crusades taking a 12-2 lead. But CU would not go down quietly going on a 7-0 run to take a 20-19 lead behind the strong serving of Alicia TerHaar. Megan Fricke stopped the CU rally with a kill and an attack error by Kate Zwier
put the Crusaders ahead 21-20. CU's Abby Miedema
tied the score at 21-21. A kill by Kate Zwier
and an attack error by Madonna pushed the CU lead to 23-21. But the Crusaders finished the game with 4 straight kills to close the game 25-23.
Madonna opened the third game with a 6-2 lead. CU cut the lead to 10-8 behind some strong serving once again but the Crusaders maintained a comfortable cushion closing the match 25-18. Megan April
finshed with a team high 9 kills on 14 attempts. Alicia TerHaar led the team with 12 digs. Tamara Bethke
finished with 19 assists. CU hit .225 for the match to MU's .313. Megan Fricke led the Crusaders with 14 kills. CU drops to 7-12 overall and 1-2 in the WHAC. Madonna improves to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the WHAC. CU must rebound quickly as they travel to Siena Heights for a Friday match up and then Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.
