Cornerstone has had Davenport's number over the past years but the Panthers found a way to break that trend today as they defeated the Golden Eagles 1-0. Davenport clinched at least a tie for the conference regular season title with the win. Davenport scored their goal in the 12th minute of play on a nice volley from about 15 yards that beat Matt Roberts
for the goal. The Panthers almost made it 2-0 about 10 minutes later but Roberts made a great save to keep the ball out of the net. The Panthers outshot the Golden Eagles 7-3 in the first half of play. Matt Osorio
had Cornerstone's best chance in the first half. He collected a ball around the 15 yard line and hit a shot that went just wide. Osorio had Cornerstone's best chance in the 2nd half as well. He beat a player on the left side of the box but his shot was blocked by the Panthers GK to keep the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard. Davenport out shot the Golden Eagles 8-1 in the second half of play. The Golden Eagles drop to 6-7-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will host Indiana Tech on Saturday at 2:30 in the last regular season game.
