The Golden Eagles didn't get started on the right foot tonight in their Semifinal game at Davenport. The Panthers Jordan Richards scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute of play. Richards made a diagonal run across the box and hammered home a cross from David Wood to put Davenport up 1-0. The Golden Eagles were a little unlucky on the second goal which was scored just 3 minutes later. Cornerstone went to clear a ball and it caromed off the back of another Golden Eagle and went right to Alex Boehm who drilled the ball into the upper right corner of the goal.
The Golden Eagles settled down and did create a couple of good chances after that point and they got on the board in the 42nd minute when Nate Weflen knocked in a ball from about 10 yards out. The ball bounced around a bit in front of the Davenport goal and Weflen slid and knocked the ball into the net to make it 2-1 just before the half. Davenport made it 3-1 just 6 minutes into the 2nd half on a play similar to Cornerstone's goal at the end of the first half. Davenport sent a long free kick to the back side of the defense and headed back across the face of the goal to Boehm who scored his 2nd goal of the night. The Golden Eagles did have some quality chances in the 2nd half but none of them made it past the Davenport GK. The Panthers out shot the Golden Eagles 11-10 on the night and had 6 corners to Cornerstone's 5 for the game. Davenport improves to 14-6 on the year and advances to the WHAC Final at Aquinas on Saturday. Cornerstone finishes the season with an 8-8-2 record overall.
