Women's Indoor Track & Field - Tue, Jan. 11, 2011
Amy Boyer of Cornerstone University earned automatic qualifying marks for the 2011 NAIA Women's Indoor Track and Field National Championships in two events last week to be named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week.
A senior from Phoenix, Ariz., Boyer finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the Eastern Michigan Inviational. Her time of 9.20 seconds met the qualifying mark for this year's national championship meet. She also qualified in the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters to finish in fourth place.
In both events, Boyer placed behind NCAA DI athletes or international athletes. It's the second time this season she has bested the automatic standards in both events.
