(Philadelphia, Pa.) As the first Cornerstone T&F athlete to compete in the prestigious, Penn Relays, Kris Shear took the advantage of the opportunity, breaking the school record in the 10,000 meter race walk.

Shear passed through the first 5,000 meters just eleven seconds slower that his best time for that distance. The second half of the 25 lap event proved tougher. "My hips and knees were ready to stop with five laps to go," Shear said.

Dan Serianni took the win in 44:47.16. Kris reached the finish line in fifth place in 51:11.66, taking almost eight minutes off the school record of 59:07.65 set in 2007 by Kelvin Shuneson.
