(Goshen, Ind.) Conditions at the annual Goshen Track & Field Invitational are typically cold and breezy. This year the weather turned frigid, causing the meet to be cancelled, with the exception of the race walk.

Women from three teams braved the 22 degree morning and endured twelve and one half laps of race walking. Cornerstone's Janelle Brown led from the gun, cruising through the 5,000 meters in 25:58.34. Her winning time of 25:58.34 was well off her best of 25:15.76 set last season, but well under the NAIA automatic qualifying standard of 28:15.00.

Monica Lawrence established the CU freshman record, taking third in 29:19.04. Her time was also under the NAIA provisional standard of 29:45.00. Sunny DeJong gave the Golden Eagles a 1-3-5 finish clocking 3257.84.
