Former Golden Eagle camper Grant Heide has decided to further his education and basketball career at Cornerstone University. The 6-2 combo guard from Hastings, MI signed his Letter of Intent on May 10.
Heide was the Saxons leading scorer this past season averaging 17 points per game. He also pulled down 4 rebounds and handed out 3 assists per game. Heide shot an amazing 89% from the free throw line, which was the 2nd highest percentage in the state of Michigan. He also shot 40% from behind the arc for the season. Heide had a season-high 26 points versus Middleville on January 7 of this year.
Heide was named to several post season teams including 1st Team OK Gold All-Conference, 1st Team All-Berry County and AP Honorable Mention All-State in Class B. He was also named to the BCAM All-State Academic Team with his 3.71 GPA.
Grant on why he chose Cornerstone: "I chose Cornerstone University because it's a great fit for me athletically, academically and personally."
Coach Elders on Grant: "Grant is passionate about basketball. He's an extremely hard worker and is always looking to improve his game. Grant has a tremendous upside and when he begins to develop physically and grow into his body, he'll be able to bring his game to a whole new level. He's an excellent student and even a better person. Grant is a Cornerstone kid and we're excited to have him in our program."
