Mitch Sytsma from Hudsonville Unity Christian recently signed his Letter of Intent to play basketball at Cornerstone in the fall of 2011. The 6-3 forward led his team in scoring (10 PPG) and rebounding (6 RPG) this past season. Sytsma, who was captain of his team, had a team-high 80% shooting accuracy from the free throw line, which was also 8^th best in the area. He scored a season-high 17 points versus Byron Center on February 18.

Sytsma led his Crusaders to a 14-11 record and a Class B District title this past season. He was named to the Advance All-Area Honorable Mention team.

Unity Christian boys basketball coach Scott Soodsma on Mitch, "Mitch has been a great person to coach. He's a great leader and nobody works harder than him".

Sytsma has been also very successful in the classroom, maintaining a 3.8 GPA. He will major in secondary education at Cornerstone. He is the son of Todd and Darla Sytsma.

Coach Elders on Mitch: "Mitch is a terrific young man who desires more than anything to honor God with his life. He's a tremendously hard worker on the court and in the classroom. Mitch is a very coachable, self-motivating person and is a true gym rat. We're excited to have him be a part of our program at Cornerstone."

Mitch on why he chose Cornerstone  "I feel so blessed to have the opportunity of attending Cornerstone and being involved with basketball and campus life. I am truly excited to see what God has in store for me in the next four years. I anticipate the fall and know I will enjoy my time here."
