The Golden Eagles scored their first goal of the season in the 19th minute of today's match against BYU-Hawaii and took a 1-0 lead over the Seasiders. Isaac Grotenhuis
made a triumphant return home and back onto the field by netting his first goal of the season in just his second game back after missing last season with an ACL injury. Cornerstone could not hold the lead in the half giving up a goal with just :28 seconds remaining in the first half of play so they went into the locker room tied 1-1. BYU-Hawaii outshot Cornerstone 7-5 in the half. The Seasiders outshot the Golden Eagles 10-6 in the second half but neither team could find the back of the net. The game appeared to be heading for a 1-1 tie when Cornerstone was called for a foul in the box which resulted in a penalty kick. The Seasiders made the penalty and walked away with a 2-1 win over the Golden Eagles. Cornerstsone will complete their games in Hawaii with a match against Chaminade University at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4th.
