The Golden Eagles did not play all that well in the first half and conceded a goal off of a corner kick in the 11th minute of play and ended the half down 1-0. Cornerstone came out in the 2nd half with a lot more intensity and controlled much more of the play. The pressure paid off in the 53rd minute of play when Jen Kuipers
was able to redirect an Anna Stegink
corner kick into the goal. The ball was played to the near post and a few players converged on the ball and Kuipers was able to get a touch to put it in the goal. The 2nd goal was similar in that Stegink put the ball in a very dangerous spot but the GK could not keep it from going in off of the corner kick in the 62nd minute of play. The Golden Eagles went up 3-1 just a couple of minutes later on Jenna Langeland
's first collegiate goal. The Golden Eagles played a short free kick that ended with a long entry pass to Rebekah Eggleston
. Eggleston got a touch on the ball and it continued into the penalty box where Langeland outraced the Goshen defender and put it in the upper corner of the goal. The last goal came off of another corner kick in the 82nd minute when Maile Carigon
headed in an Anna Stegink
service at the far post. The Golden Eagles improve to 3-4-1 with the win. Cornerstone will have the weekend off and will return to action next Tuesday when they travel down to Ann Arbor to take on Concordia in a non-conference match.
