The Golden Eagles went on the road again in a non-conference game against Concordia and came away with a 3-1 victory today. Paige Knott
got the first goal with assists from Rebekah Eggleston
and Riley Steen
. The Golden Eagles had the ball a lot but the Cardinals were dangerous in the counter-attack. Concordia got a counter late in the first half and earned a corner kick and scored off of the corner to make the score 1-1 at the half. The Golden Eagles went back up 2-1 on a corner kick as well. Kate Wiegman
scored her second goal of the season heading in an Anna Stegink
serve from the corner. Riley Steen
made it 3-1 by one touching an Amanda Van Laar
cross into the goal. Van Laar beat a player down the line and laid the ball across the face of the goal to Steen. The Golden Eagle's had a couple more chances but failed to convert and the game ended 3-1. Kathy Butt
went the distance in the goal to pick up her 4th win of the season. Cornerstone draws back to .500 (4-4-1) with the win. Cornerstone will play Concordia for their conference game on Oct. 22nd. The Golden Eagles will host Siena Heights on Saturday at noon.
Come out and support the Golden Eagles as they host "Night of Nets" to
help send bed nets to Africa to reduce Malaria. A suggested donation
of $6 can be given at the gate which will buy one bed net.
