Chester VandenBerg enters his first year as interim head coach after spending the previous year as an assistant with both the men's and women's teams.
Chester enjoyed a great golf career at Cornerstone from 2007-2011. He was a captain from 2008-2011, and is a part of the record book in more than one category. He has also had success as an amateur playing in events at a national level qualifying for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in 2010. This past summer he played in local events as well as the Michigan Open where he finished T20th and the Michigan Amateur where he made it to the Sweet 16 of match play.
Golf extends into his vocation as he has worked previously for Nike Golf and Golf Galaxy. "Golf is a passion in every aspect of my life, and I look forward to coaching as a new opportunity."
Coaching Philosophy: A positive mindset is essential to success both on and off the golf course. I want to recruit and coach players that have a strong mental game as well as the physical game. The mental process on the golf course is the most important attribute to a successful golfer. Creating confidence within each athlete helps the score and the overall outcome of the team. "As a team we will look for success on the course, and off the course we will strive to represent the university in a Christian light in the classroom and in the community. "
