Men's Golf finishes 12th at SAU Fall Classic

BATH, Mich. - Cornerstone Men's Golf stepped out of conference play today to compete in the Spring Arbor University Fall Classic at Eagle Eye Golf Club. The Golden Eagles finished with a 2-round total of 652 to finish 12th out of the 14 teams competing. Taylor University, who had an opening round of 277 (-11 under), won the tourney with a 36-hole score of 565. CU will resume play on October 9-10 in the final two league jamborees at Lourdes and UNOH.

Cornerstone went up against many WHAC and Crossroads League schools today at the annual SAU Fall Classic at Eagle Eye Golf Club just outside of Lansing but was unable to put together two solid rounds as they struggled to a 12th place finish. Taylor won the event with a 565 team score and the Trojans were followed by St. Francis (Ind.) who was 32 shots behind them. Fellow WHAC school Madonna finished 6th with a 608 team score while CU was 12th at 652.

Jordan Leaman was the top scorer for the Golden Eagles as the sophomore finished the 36-hole event with a score of 160 (83-77) and he was followed by freshman Ty Mero (79-82-161), Will Clarke (81-84-165) and Zach Paavola (84-82-166).

Cornerstone has the next two weeks off before returning to action at the final two league events on October 9-10 at Lourdes and UNOH.
