
After recently graduating in May, 2012, Aimee Luurtsema begins her first season as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program. In addition to her duties with the Golden Eagles soccer team, Luurtsema is the assistant sports information director for Cornerstone athletics.
Luurtsema is a Grandville, Michigan native. She came to Cornerstone after graduating from Hudsonville Unity Christian and furthering her education and soccer career at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Before moving to the coaching ranks, Luurtsema started as a defender/forward at Liberty University for four years - earning Big South all-conference honors … named to Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) all-state first team … led Liberty and finished second in the Big South with 13 goals … became the third player in school history to net more than 10 goals in a season … paced team and finished No. 2 in the conference in total points with 31 points her junior season, making herself one of two Lady Flames to put up more than 30 points in a season … earned Big South Player of the Week honors … was named Big South and ECAC Player of the Week after putting up four goals and an assist … became the fourth player in school history to record four goals in a single game and second to post nine points … named to Big South Presidential Honor Roll all four years.
Luurtsema has had past coaching experience from Liberty University summer soccer camps, local soccer academy, Adam Godwin Soccer Academy, year round, and started a summer local soccer camp, Thunder Foot Soccer, with Michigan State soccer graduates and high school teammates, Laura Heyboer and Jill Flietstra during the summer of 2007.
Luurtsema graduated from Liberty University in 2012 with a degree in Business and a specialization in marketing. "I am excited to see the impact that God will have in my life here, in Cornerstone athletics. I am extremely passionate about soccer and love to bring my marketing skills to the sports information side of things. I have had the privilege to become the soccer player I am today because of coaches and teammates and I am thrilled to pass my knowledge onto the players this season and look forward to the challenge."
