Dan Erickson
enters his second season as the Head Coach of the Men's & Women's Tennis
program at Cornerstone University. There was an excitement that came with
the challenge of starting the tennis programs last year; first time meeting
everyone, first practice, first matches, first wins, first everything.
While those firsts were fun and exciting, Coach Erickson is even more excited
to move the programs forward to a more mature place beginning this upcoming
season.
Coach
Erickson played four seasons of tennis at Bethel College (Mishawaka, IN), where
he played anywhere from #2-6 singles and all 3 doubles positions. During that
time, Dan began working at the South Bend Racquet Club and the Leeper Park
Tennis Center and developed a love for teaching tennis, the tennis industry,
and growing the game in the community. He also coached high school tennis in
South Bend, IN. After college, Dan moved to Lexington, KY, where he took the
job as General Manager of the Kentucky Tennis Academy (KTA). After several
years, Dan transitioned to the Lexington Tennis Club, one of the largest indoor
tennis clubs in the country, where he then also served as General Manager. Dan
also helped start Champions Sports, a 40,000 square foot indoor baseball &
softball training center, as well as start The Kentucky Baseball Club, for
which he served as Treasurer. After 10 years in Kentucky, Dan has returned to
the Midwest and now serves as Cornerstone's Head Tennis Coach. Dan remains an
active tennis player and says that little relaxes him more than hitting tennis
balls. Dan is certified at the Professional Level by the Professional
Tennis Registry (PTR).
Dan and his wife,
Nancy, live with their two children, Sophie and Paul.
