[Volleyball] Petrick signs with Golden Eagles

Megan is a 5'6 Setter/DS from Tri-unity Christian, Wyoming, Michigan. Megan was a four year starter on varsity and received All-State honors her junior and senior year. She also accomplished receiving All-Conference for four years in the River Valley and All-Region for three years, adding onto that, she was All-Area for two years. Her high school team made it to the state finals in 2011.

Megan's parents are Dean and Dawn Petrick and she has three older siblings, Josh (22), Britany (21), and Alyssa (19). Megan feels extremely blessed to be able to play for Cornerstone. She is thrilled about the opportunity to play with her new team at Cornerstone and to attend the University. When she had to decide between a couple different colleges Megan knew that Cornerstone was the best fit for her.

[Volleyball] Tori Mielke will attend Cornerstone

Tori Mielke is a 6'2" Middle Hitter, from Allegan High School, Allegan, Michigan. Tori played on the varsity volleyball team as a three year starter and in 2012 was team captain. She was awarded All-Conference, All-County, and All-Region. During the 2012 season she broke the record for most kills in a match and most blocks in a season. Tori was also awarded MVP and "Best Hitter" by her team and coach. Tori also played for the Dead Frog Volleyball Club for three years.

Tori is a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She had perfect attendance for her whole high school career and also been on the honor roll all four years.

Tori's parents are Mark and Amy Mielke and she has a younger brother, Landon (13). Tori and her family attend First Baptist Church of Allegan. She is ecstatic to be attending Cornerstone University to experience the Christian community and fellowship. Tori plans to major in Early Education. She loves hanging with her friends and family, reading, playing sports, and going out on the family's boat.

[Volleyball] Brooke Olesnavage signs with Cornerstone

Brooke Olesnavage is a 5'10" Outside Hitter from Leland High School in Leland, Michigan. She was a four-year varsity player and was selected for the Class D First Team All-State team her senior year. In 2012, she helped lead her team to the MHSAA Quarterfinals. Brooke was chosen for the Leelanau Area Dream Team, Record Eagle Dream Team, and All-ESPN Northern Michigan Dream Team. She played club volleyball for three years. Brooke has also competed in the 2011 MHSAA Track & Field State Finals for the High Jump. She holds multiple school records for the high jump and mid-distance relays.

Aside from sports, Brooke received Academic All-State Honors, was on the Honor Roll for all four years, and was a member of the National Technical Honor Society. She won the National Cherry Festival Student Fine Art Poster Contest in 2012. Her work was on posters, in galleries, on t-shirts, etc. and became their best-selling poster of all time. Also, her photography has been recognized in contests and showcased in local galleries.

Brooke's parents are Jim and Terri Olesnavage, and her younger sister is named Jenna (14). Brooke is excited to attend Cornerstone University for the small, friendly campus and Christian atmosphere. She plans to dual-enroll at the Kendall College of Art & Design and major in Photography. She enjoys traveling, art, the outdoors, friends, and drinking hot tea morning, noon, and night.

[Volleyball] Golden Eagles Volleyball Falls to No. 1 Seed Madonna in WHAC Semifinals

The No. 4 seed Cornerstone volleyball team lost a disappointing 3-0 match in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference semifinal to the No. 16 nationally ranked Madonna University squad on Saturday morning. The Crusaders came into the match with a 32-7 overall record and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. The Golden Eagles end their season with a 25-10 overall record and 8-3 in conference play.

[Volleyball] No. 4 Seed Cornerstone Wins Thriller in WHAC Quarterfinals

The No. 4 seed Cornerstone volleyball team earned a tough 3-2 win (25-11, 24-26, 25-19, 16-25, 15-13) over No. 5 seed University of Northern Ohio during the quarterfinal match of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, held at Madonna University.

[Volleyball] Handful of Golden Eagles Honored for WHAC Awards

The announcement was made earlier this afternoon for the 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Volleyball Awards. The Cornerstone volleyball team placed four players on the WHAC All-Conference team, a Libero of the Year, and one to the All-Freshman team.

Sophomore outside hitter Cailie Johnson represents the Golden Eagles on the WHAC All-Conference first team, while junior ride side hitter Becky Albrecht, outside hitter Abby Miedema, and junior setter Kim Weaver drew All-Conference Honorable Mention. Additionally, Miedema was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Setter of the Year. Freshman outside hitter Chelsea Lake represents the Golden Eagles on the WHAC All-Freshman team.

In addition, senior outside hitter Megan April, senior defensive specialist Larissa Deshetsky, Miedema, and senior middle hitter Kate Zwier were tabbed to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. Zwier also was honored on the Champions of Character Team.

The Golden Eagles finishing 23-9 and fourth in the WHAC regular-season, after going 8-3 in conference play, will enter the tournament today as the No. 4 seed to face University of Northern Ohio.

[Volleyball] No. 4 Seed Cornerstone to Meet No. 5 Seed UNOH in WHAC Quarterfinals

After finishing in fourth place in the conference standings, the Cornerstone women's volleyball team (23-9, 8-3 WHAC) is headed to Livonia, Mich., on Friday for the quarterfinals for the 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletics Conference Championship. With first-round matches played on Wednesday at campus sites, Cornerstone was set to face the winner of UNOH-Marygrove match.

University of Northern Ohio blasted past the Mustangs of Marygrove on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep. Cierra Anderson notched six serving aces while Emily Crowell attacked at a .571 pace to eliminate Marygrove.

[Volleyball] Golden Eagles Seeded Fourth in WHAC Tournament

After finishing 8-3 in conference play, the Cornerstone volleyball squad finished fourth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and are the number four seed heading into this weekend's league tournament. Madonna claimed the regular season volleyball title and the first WHAC automatic bid to the NAIA Nationals after posting a 10-1 league record. With the top spot, Madonna will host the quarterfinals, semis, and championship on Nov. 9-10.

[Volleyball] Panthers Hold Off Cornerstone for 3-2 Win

With conference standings on the line, the Cornerstone University women's volleyball squad hosted Davenport University Friday night. The match turned out to be a tough battle with the Golden Eagles falling to the hands of the Davenport Panthers, 2-3. Davenport took the early 2-0 lead over Cornerstone but the Golden Eagles battled back to force a fifth set. The final set however, went to the visiting team, 15-12.

Wednesday night, the Cornerstone volleyball squad faced UNOH who currently held the top position in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Golden Eagles used a balanced scoring attack, hitting .309 during a 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-17) sweep of host UNOH in Lima, Ohio.

[Volleyball] Volleyball Set for WHAC Battle, Wednesday

After a busy weekend, the Cornerstone volleyball squad returns to the court for a conference road contest at University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday. Head coach Ryan Campbell and his squad are currently 22-8 overall and 7-2 in the WHAC. With league play winding down, Cornerstone will have their final two WHAC matches this week against UNOH and Davenport. University of Northwestern Ohio currently shares the top spot in conference standings with Madonna and Indiana Tech as all three teams have posted an 8-1 record. Meanwhile, Davenport shares the second place spot in conference standings with Cornerstone.

The Golden Eagles enter Wednesday coming off an eventful weekend at the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic. The squad faced Mount Mercy, Shawnee State, Rochester College, and Bethel College. After the 3-1 result, the squad is eager to return to conference play.

[Volleyball] Johnson Earns Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Weekly Honor

Following a 5-1 week that included the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic, the Cornerstone volleyball team received a conference weekly award. Sophomore outside hitter Cailie Johnson was honored for games played Oct. 22-Oct. 28. The announcement was made by the conference this afternoon.

Johnson's week was highlighted with 74 kills, 34 digs, and 13 assists with a .474 attacking percentage. The sophomore was also named to the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic All-Tournament First Team. Johnson entered double figures in kills during all five matches, capped by a season-high 24-kill match against Shawnee State on Friday. With the help of Johnson, the Golden Eagles improve their overall record to 22-8. The Golden Eagles finished the regular season this week when they meet two tough WHAC opponents. On Wednesday, Cornerstone travels to UNOH and host Davenport Friday night.

After a successful day one of the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic Friday highlighted by a five match battle with Shawnee State University, Cornerstone aimed to repeat on Saturday. The squad swept Rochester but Bethel College had the best of the Golden Eagles on Saturday. Cornerstone finished the tournament with a 3-1 record pushing them towards a 22-8 overall record.

The Cornerstone University volleyball squad defeated Siena Heights on Wednesday night to send off their four seniors. The Golden Eagles used a balanced scoring attack, hitting .291 during a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-17) sweep of visiting Siena Heights on Wednesday at Mol Arena.
