Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Morgan Haddad (FR/Troy, Ohio) scored in the opening half and Lexanna Siemasz (SO/Waterford, Mich.) added an insurance tally in the second to lift the women's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout win over visiting Saint Xavier. The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 10-3-3 on the year as they will conclude the regular season on Saturday vs. Siena Heights in a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.

In their final non-conference match of the regular season, head coach Randy Strawser and his women's soccer team posted a shutout win over CCAC foe Saint Xavier. The match was a makeup one from a late September contest that was postponed because of thunderstorms and one that the Golden Eagles dominated the possession throughout.

After feeling each other out for a majority of the first half, Cornerstone got a break through from Morgan Haddad and she put one move on the keeper and scored to put CU up 1-0.

That score remained until half but then just seven minutes into the second, CU added with a free-kick goal from Lexanna Siemasz just outside the 18 to double the lead and give the Golden Eagles an insurance goal.

CU keeper Allison Snowden (SO/Kalamazoo, Mich.) was never seriously threatened throughout the 90 minutes as she had to make only one save while the Cornerstone defense limited the Cougars to five total shots. The Golden Eagles on the other hand went for 14 total shots with five of those coming on net.

Cornerstone will return to action Saturday in their regular season finale when they host Siena Heights at 4:30 p.m. CU is currently in a tie for fifth in the WHAC standings while the Saints are in second alone.
