Box Score SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Morgan Haddad (FR/Troy, Ohio) recorded a goal in the third minute and that was more than enough for the visiting Golden Eagles to post a 3-0 win on the road at Lawrence Tech on Tuesday. CU added two more as they picked up their second straight shutout to improve to 8-1-2 on the season and 3-1-0 in league play. Cornerstone will play at Aquinas on Saturday for a 4 p.m. kickoff with the Saints.
The Golden Eagles traveled Lawrence Tech for a WHAC contest and it didn't take long to get on the scoreboard. Morgan Haddad won a ball in the final third and launched a long shot over the top of the Blue Devil keeper to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead just 2:50 into the game.
The Blue Devils then took it to the Golden Eagles for the next 20 minutes or so and Allison Snowden (SO/Kalamazoo, Mich.) had to make a big save to keep the game at 1-0. The Golden Eagles began to play much better at the end of the half creating some good chances but tt wasn't until late that Cornerstone got the 2nd goal as the Blue Devils were called for a hand ball and Kerri Hoffman (JR/Hamilton, Mich.) tucked the penalty into the lower right corner to give CU a 2-0 lead just before the half.
Lexie Brisson-Fast (JR/Ferndale, Mich.) scored her ninth goal of the season about 10 minutes into the second half to put the Golden Eagles up 3-0 and the game would end with the same score. Allison Snowden and Hayley Mohr (SO/West Olive, Mich.) combined for the shutout as Cornerstone improves to 8-1-2 overall and 3-1 in the WHAC.
CU will make a short road trip on Saturday when they face Aquinas College at 4 p.m.
