Box Score LIMA, Ohio – Sophomore guard Emma Lockhart (SO/Reed City, Mich.) had a breakout performance as she posted a game high 25 points to lead the No. 24 ranked Golden Eagles to an 81-80 win at Northwestern Ohio. Jill Hendrickson (JR/Ada, Mich.) hit a pair of free-throw and then CU held tough on the last possession on defense to secure their first win under Katie Mattera in Lima. CU now travels to Adrian on Tuesday for a matchup with No. 17 Siena Heights.
Game Flow
In a game that saw numerous lead changes and small runs, it was one with five minutes remaining on the clock in the second half that helped CU get a 6-point lead that they would hold on to. UNOH did most of their damage from the free-throw line to stay in the contest towards the end but CU got a pair of foul shots from Jill Hendrickson to take an 81-80 lead.
After UNOH called timeout, the Golden Eagles came down on defense and got one last stop on a crazy flurry of plays to walk away with the 1-point win.
Say What?
That gym is tough to play in and we kept our heads the entire game. We never gave up and when it counted most, we were all able to step up and make the big plays whether it was free-throws, blocks or rebounds. It was good to get a hard-earned win.
By the Numbers
25 – points scored by sophomore Emma Lockhart – a career high by 12 points (previous was 13 in 2013-14)
2 – Key free-throws connected on by junior Jill Hendrickson in the final seconds to seal win
