WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Looking to end the 2014 calendar year with a victory, the women's basketball team used a strong second half but it came up two points short as they fell 48-46 to NCAA DII Barry University. The loss ends a 4-game winning streak for the Golden Eagles as they fall to 9-6 on the year. CU will resume action on Saturday when they welcome in Lawrence Tech for a WHAC contest at Mol Arena at 1 p.m.
Game Flow
The Golden Eagles and Buccaneers went back and forth in the opening half with each posting their own significant runs but it was a late one from the Sunshine State Conference foes that gave them a 30-21 lead at the break. CU struggled from the field in the opening 20 minutes as they shot just 28.6%.
Cornerstone then started the second half on a 15-3 run to take a 36-33 lead but it would be short lived as the Bucs came right back and re-took the lead and it would be one they would not give up. Down two with just under 10 seconds to play, Cornerstone got a good look from behind the arc but a Tanner Hostetler (JR/Archbold, Ohio) three was just off the mark.
