Women’s Basketball falls at home to No. 2 Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Playing their third Top-5 ranked opponent of the season, the Cornerstone women's basketball team came out on the losing end of a 74-42 score to No. 2 Davenport on Saturday afternoon. Ashley Niedermayer (SR/Lincolnshire, Ill) led the Golden Eagles with 11 points as they fall to 5-5 on the season and 3-3 in the WHAC. CU will resume action on Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m. on the road at Concordia.



Game Flow
The host Golden Eagles fell behind early but used an 8-4 spurt to bring the score within four at 12-8 with 13:43 to play in the first half. The Panthers, who had not lost a game coming into the contest today, then flexed their muscles and outscored CU 27-12 the rest of the half to lead 39-20.

That lead grew to as many as 22 in the first five minutes of the second half and the Panthers kept the foot on the gas upping their lead into the 30's midway through the second 20 minutes. Cornerstone did get some valuable minutes fof their bench from Mari Bugg (SO/Grand Rapids, Mich.) who scored four points in 10 minutes of action.
