Golden Eagles quick start leads to 6-2 win over Huntington

The Golden Eagles started off very well today in their 2014 "Night of Nets" game.  Junior captain Teigan Mitcham scored her first goal of the season just 3 minutes into the game.  Kerri Hoffman beat a player on the right side of the field and sent a cross over the top of the Forresters defense to Mitcham who headed the ball into the goal.  Lexie Brisson-Fast made it 2-0 in the 6th minute on another Kerri Hoffman assist.  Hoffman played a ball through to Brisson-Fast on the right side and Brisson-Fast got behind her defender and beat the GK in a 1 v 1.  Freshman Morgan Haddad scored her first collegiate goal in the 15th minute.  Lexie-Brisson Fast played a ball across the face of the goal to Haddad who one timed the ball into the goal to make it 3-0.  The Golden Eagles picked up where they left off to start the second half.  Kerri Hoffman took a pass from Josie Litty on a corner and she lofted a left footed shot over the Forrester keeper to make it 4-0.  Hoffman scored her second and the team's fifth goal in the 67th minute.  Lexanna Siemasz scored her first goal of the season in the 76th minute.  Siemasz collect a ball off of a corner kick and hit a nice shot just inside the far post to make it 6-0.  The Golden Eagles gave up a couple of late goals to make it a 6-2 win for Cornerstone.  Cornerstone improves to 2-0-2 on the season.  Hayley Mohr picked up her first win of the season in the goal.  Cornerstone will host St. Xavier (Ill.) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
