GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone women's basketball team went 7:24 without scoring a point late in the second half after leading by as many as 15 but CU held off a Saints' rally to win 54-51 on the road. Jill Hendrickson (JR/Ada, Mich.) posted 22 points and 15 rebounds to help Cornerstone improve to 13-6 on the year and 8-3 in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles will host Concordia on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Game Flow
Jill Hendrickson's big day started by scoring the team's first five points and the lead grew as the opening half went on for Cornerstone holding a 27-12 lead midway through. Aquinas did close on a small run to get the margin down to just 10 at 33-23 at the break.

The second half opened with CU increasing their lead back to the mid-teens but after scoring to go up 10 with 9:55, CU was held without a point until a pair of Jill Hendrickson free-throws with 2:31 to play. Those points put CU up for good however after Aquinas rallied to tie the score at 49 and the Saints' last second attempt to tie was short giving Cornerstone the win.

Say What?
"I was happy with our defense and how we came out strong tonight. We need to keep pushing even with a big lead however and we let Aquinas back into the game tonight but it was good to get the win" – Head coach Katie Mattera
