DEARBORN, Mich. – The Cornerstone women's basketball team will bring a 6-game winning streak and 10 in a row over NAIA foes into their Beltline Battle with No. 2 Davenport after picking up an 82-60 victory over UM-Dearborn on Wednesday night. The win, which came after calling the game with over 30 seconds to play due to a lights malfunction, lifts the Golden Eagles to 15-6 on the year and 10-3 in league play.
Game Flow
Cornerstone started the game with a 6-0 run after a pair of buckets from Ashley Niedermayer (SR/Lincolnshire, Ill) and one from Tanner Hostetler (JR/Archbold, Ohio) and they would never trail for the entire game leading by as many as 12 in the opening half thanks to a pair of free-throws from Samantha Kolenda (SO/Sparta, Mich.) in the final minute.
CU quickly upped their lead to the twenties in the first four minutes of the second half and they cruised to their sixth straight win overall. The only dramatics in the closing half was with about 30 seconds remaining as the lights went out in the UMD Fieldhouse and due to them not functioning properly, the referees decided to call the game with CU winning by 22.
