Women’s Hoops back on track with 56-49 win at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio – After suffering just their third loss since the beginning of December this past Saturday, the women's basketball team got back to their winning ways with a 56-49 win at Lourdes on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles improve to 16-7 on the year while they are now 11-4 in league play. CU will return to Mol Arena on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against Northwestern Ohio.



Game Flow
The host Gray Wolves opened the game on fire as they scored the first six points but CU then took over by scoring the next 16 straight and held LU without a point for 5:03 of game clock. The runs continued as LU closed the half by scoring 18 of the final 29 points to cut the margin to 27-24. 

Lourdes continued their strong play into the second half and the next 15 minutes of play featured numerous lead changes. Trailing 42-41 with 8:22 to play, CU got a bucket on the next possession from Jill Hendrickson (JR/Ada, Mich.) and the lead remained on their side for the remainder of the game. Hendrickson scored 13 in the first and followed it up with nine in the second.

"It is always hard playing in this gym but we came together and came up with some big rebounds and stops at critical times. Even though we had a tough loss last Saturday, we feel we came out better prepared to handle the pressure which was evident tonight." Sophomore Emma Lockhart (SO/Reed City, Mich.)

22/12 – Jill Hendrickson posted her 11th double-double of the season with a game high 22 points and 12 rebounds

8 – Cornerstone had eight different players score of the nine that played

30.4 – CU held the host Gray Wolves to just 30.4% shooting from the field

8 – The Golden Eagles held LU's leading scorer Lauren Tilden to seven points below her season average and limited her to 2-12 shooting

15 – CU posted 15 assists on 22 made field goals led by Emma Lockhart with four
