Litty scores game winner in 2-1 victory at Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Trailing 1-0 at halftime on the road against #RV Concordia, the women's soccer team got a pair of goals from Alexys Riksen (FR/Grand Haven, Mich.) and Josie Litty (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.) to post a 2-1 victory over the Cardinals. The win lifts the Golden Eagles to 9-6-0 on the season and 3-4-0 in WHAC play. CU will celebrate senior night on Saturday when they host Lawrence Tech at 4 p.m.

Game Flow…
Cornerstone faced a tough Concordia team today and they proved to be a handful right from the opening whistle. Concordia's leading scorer gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead just eight minutes into the game and CUAA continued to press the Golden Eagles into defending over the first 20 minutes of the game to take a 1-0 lead into half.

The Golden Eagles came out strong in the 2nd half and freshman Alexys Riksen scored her 5th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 in the 52'. Senior Lexie Brisson-Fast (SR/Ferndale, Mich.) beat her player down the end line and played the ball to Riksen who set the ball up to her left foot and slotted the ball past the keeper into the lower right side of the goal.

Cornerstone then took the lead just four minutes later on a corner kick as Riksen sent the corner into the face of the goal and Teigan Mitcham (SR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) redirected the ball across the goal to Josie Litty who poked the ball into the back of the net.
