Tale of two halves leads to 3-1 loss at Madonna

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Golden Eagles dug themselves a deep hole on the road today and it led to a 3-1 setback to Madonna. The loss drops Cornerstone to 6-4-0 on the year and 1-2-0 in league action. CU will resume play on Wednesday at home against league newcomer Lourdes at 7 p.m.

Game Flow…
Madonna pressed the Golden Eagles early in the game and scored the first goal in the 11' by getting down the right side of the field and beating the CU keeper 1v1. The Crusaders made it 2-0 about 11 minutes later on a rocket into the upper right hand corner of the goal and then went up 3-0 on a ball played over the top of the defense that Jennifer Jurcak scored on a one time shot.

The Golden Eagles came out and dictated play in the 2nd half as freshman Savannah Petty (FR/Greenwood, Ind.) scored her first goal in her career with a great left footed shot from just outside the box. That would be the only scoring for CU as they had a few more chances down the stretch that they were unable to convert.

-   Cornerstone outshot Madonna 7-4 in the 2nd half.
-   Allison Snowden (JR/Kalamazoo, Mich.) made five saves in the first half but only had to make one save in the 2nd half.
-   Lexie Brisson-Fast (SR/Ferndale, Mich.) got off 3 shots to lead Cornerstone. Bria West (JR/Holland, Mich.) and Josie Litty (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.) both had a couple of shots.
