Pair of Hoffman goals lift Women’s Soccer to 3-0 win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Kerri Hoffman (SR/Hamilton, Mich.) opened and closed the scoring for the Golden Eagles tonight as they posted a 3-0 victory over Lourdes in WHAC action. The win lifts Cornerstone to 7-4 on the year and 2-2 in league play as they will step out of conference to makeup the Grace Bible game on Friday on the road.

Game Flow…
Cornerstone started well creating a couple of good chances early in the game. Senior Kerri Hoffman opened the scoring by heading in a Jessica Erny (JR/Spring Lake, Mich.) cross from about seven yards out to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead in the 14'. Erny took a pass on the outside left and hit a nice cross to Hoffman who headed the ball past the Gray Wolves GK.

Freshman Alexys Riksen (FR/Grand Haven, Mich.) created some separation from the Gray Wolves early in the second when she took a tough pass and brought the ball down and then hit a volley that beat their keeper at the near post to put Cornerstone up 2-0 just 34 seconds into play. Kerri Hoffman finished the scoring after she took a pass from Josie Litty (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.), took a dribble towards the goal and unleashed a great shot that beat the GK at the far post.
