GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – Alexys Riksen (FR/Grand Haven, Mich.) put the Golden Eagles on the board in the 65' and Lexie Brisson-Fast (SR/Ferndale, Mich.) added the insurance goal just nine minutes later to lead Cornerstone to a 2-0 win over Concordia. The victory in the WHAC Tournament opener, sends the Golden Eagles into Saturday's semifinal round at NAIA No. 2 Northwestern Ohio.

Game Flow…
The first half saw Cornerstone control the play and the Golden Eagles had two very good chances, each from freshman Alexys Riksen, but the Cardinals' keeper was there for both saves to keep the match scoreless heading into the break.

Cornerstone continued its offensive pressure early in the second and after a few more chances just missed, Riksen took a pass in the midfield and beat her defender and the CUAA keeper to put CU up 1-0. That lead doubled just nine minutes later when Lexie Brisson-Fast took a pass from Bria West (JR/Holland, Mich.) and dribbled deep into the box and beat the keeper low left side for a commanding 2-0 lead.

CU goalkeeper Allison Snowden (JR/Kalamazoo, Mich.) came up with her lone save early in the second half and she was never seriously threatened by the high power offense of Concordia.

Quotable…
"It was a great showing all around from our team. Teigan Mitcham (SR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) played outstanding in shutting down one of the best players in the conference and the rest of the group played so well. Now we turn our attention to a very difficult UNOH team that nobody in our conference has had an answer for the last couple of years." Head Coach Randy Strawser

Inside the Box…
