Sheridan scores 27 to lead CU to 62-59 win over UNOH

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It was a battle between #5 Cornerstone (4-2) and #4 Northwestern Ohio (5-1) today at Mol Arena. CU will return to action on Saturday, December 19th at Bethel College at 1:00 p.m. Freshman Jesse Sheridan scored 27 and had 3 assists to lead the Golden Eagles to a 4th quarter come back 62-59 win over Northwestern Ohio. Cornerstone will play at Bethel next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Game Flow

The Golden Eagles started well and took a 16-13 lead after the first quarter of play. Northwestern Ohio made a 13-0 run to start the second quarter to take a 26-16 lead with 3:52 remaining but Cornerstone closed the gap to finish down 24-28 at the half. Jesse Sheridan was a perfect 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from the charity stripe to lead all scorers (11 points) at the half.

Cornerstone cut the lead to 1 (35-26) at the midpoint of the 3^rd quarter but the Racers finished the quarter with an 11-2 run to finish with a 47-37 advantage. The Golden Eagles came roaring back in the 4^th quarter opening with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 47-45 with 6:11 left in the game. Jill Steenwyk gave Cornerstone their first lead 51-49 of the second half with 4:45 left in the game. Northwestern regained the lead 56-55 with 2:31 on the clock but the Golden Eagles reclaimed it on a Taylor Richards layup and the Golden Eagles held the lead down the stretch and won 62-59.

Cornerstone will have a week off between games as they have exams this week and they will return to action next Saturday when they travel down to Mishawauka, Ind. to take on Bethel College at 1:00 p.m.
