Game Flow
Cornerstone and Lawrence Tech played a pretty even first quarter until the last few minutes when the Golden Eagles caught fire and scored the final seven points to take a 16-12 lead. The lead grew to eight halfway through the second but LTU closed out the half like a Top-25 team to trail by only three 30-27.
The strong Blue Devils play carried into the third and they held a 43-41 lead with under 10 seconds to play but a triple from Mya Udell (FR/Ada, Mich.) gave the Golden Eagles a 44-43 lead. LTU again came out strong in the 4th and re-took the lead and upped the margin to as many as eight (56-48) with under five minutes to play. Jesse Sheridan (FR/Argyle, Texas), who battled foul trouble in the first half and was held scoreless then caught fire and scored seven straight points and combined with four from Ellery Mast helped CU go up 61-60 with under 15 seconds to play. CU got a stop on the next possession and Mast hit a pair of free-throws with 3.3 seconds to play to ice the win.
