GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone women's basketball jumped out to a 19-5 first quarter lead and got a season high 10 points from Samantha Kolenda (JR/Sparta, Mich.) as they won their third straight game with a 68-45 victory over UM-Dearborn. CU, which completed a perfect three game home stand to improve to 14-9 overall and 12-4 in the WHAC, heads on the road Wednesday to Adrian to face Siena Heights.
Game Flow
The first quarter was all Cornerstone and the second was all UM-Dearborn. Head coach Katie Mattera saw her team start slow offensively but just over halfway through the opening 10 minutes, CU started to hit shots and took a 4-3 lead and turned it into a 19-5 advantage. The Wolverines came back hard in the second quarter and outscored the Golden Eagles 17-8 to bring the halftime margin to just five at 27-22.
The Wolverines continued their run into the third and had the lead down to a bucket at 29-27 but then CU went on a big run to put distance between them and UMD as they went into the fourth up 53-33 after a 24-6 run to end the quarter.

Cornerstone will head on the road for their next three games beginning Wednesday at Siena Heights. The Golden Eagles will follow with games at UNOH and at Concordia.
