FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Freshman Jesse Sheridan (FR/Argyle, Texas) poured in a season high 28 points to lead the Cornerstone women's basketball team to a big 81-69 road win at Indiana Tech on Wednesday night. The victory lifts the Golden Eagles to 9-7 overall and 7-2 in the WHAC. CU will come back home Saturday to host No. 6 ranked Davenport.
Game Flow
Indiana Tech, which came into the night tied for third place in the WHAC along with Cornerstone, jumped out to a 6-point lead at the end first quarter and held a slim five-point edge (36-31) at the end of the half. The Warriors shot 56% from the field in the opening half while CU was just 44% including 0-6 from behind the arc.
The shots then started to fall for the Golden Eagles as they finished the final 20 minutes by outscoring the Warriors by 17 points including a 27-14 edge in the fourth quarter. A 3-pointer by Jesse Sheridan gave CU a lead late in the third quarter and the Golden Eagles took the lead for good on a layup from Samantha Kolenda (JR/Sparta, Mich.) early in the fourth.
