Dominance vs. Marygrove
Marygrove entered the WHAC in the 2012-13 season and the Golden Eagles have not given them a friendly welcome, as CU holds an 8-0 all-time record vs. the Mustangs. Cornerstone in those eight games has beaten Marygrove by an average of 25.4 PPG, and last season they won each of the regular season matchups by 39 points.
Scouting the Mustangs
Marygrove comes into the 2016-17 season with a veteran roster that has struggled in non-conference play posting a 1-4 record. Marygrove's trip to Grand Rapids will be their first conference game of the year as they look to build on a 1-21 WHAC record and last place finish from the 2015-16 season. Elisha Major leads a starting roster of four seniors this year, averaging a team high 16.5 PPG most recently recording a season high 30 points in a loss to Taylor University last week.

Streak vs. Concordia
Cornerstone has held recent dominance over the Concordia Cardinals winning the last six games dating back to February 8, 2014. The tables were turned in the years prior though, as CUAA won the previous seven matchups with their streak starting on February 16, 2011.
Scouting Concordia
Concordia comes into the year at 3-0 with their conference opener still awaiting at Siena Heights this Wednesday. The Cardinals feature a large roster consisting of 17 players that have a lot of size, as four players are over six-feet tall. Concordia in the early season has been excellent defensively holding opponents to an average of 48.3 PPG allowing them to shoot just 31% from the field ranking top five in the NAIA in both categories. The young duo of freshman Mia Long and sophomore Karlee Morris have led CUAA offensively as Long leads the team in scoring at 12.3 PPG and rebounding at 7.7 RPG and Morris holds a team high 11 assists.
Limiting Chances
Cornerstone has done an excellent job in the early season on the defensive end limiting opponents chances by collecting an average of 45.6 rebounds per game ranking 17th in the country. Rebounding has been a total team effort as well, as
Ellery Mast,
Cass Vredevoogd, and
Shaina DenBesten all average over five rebounds per game.
DenBesten's Energy
Freshman
Shaina DenBesten has been a surprise spark off the bench showing tremendous energy and hustle. DenBesten is the leader in rebounds off the bench averaging 5.0, and she recorded an early career high of eight rebounds in the win over Siena Heights. Along with rebounding, DenBesten is averaging a bench high 4.0 PPG while also recording two blocks and three steals through the first five games.
Home Court Success
Cornerstone has had a history of home court success under head coach
Katie Mattera. CU has posted an early 2-0 mark at home this year and is 44-13 at home in the past four seasons under the direction of coach Mattera.
Three Point Spark
Three point shooting has been a struggle through the first four games of the season for CU going just 5-50 from behind the arc. Cornerstone managed to find their stride from deep in the conference opener this past week hitting 6-10 threes in the win. Guard
Jesse Sheridan was able to find her rhythm from deep hitting five of the six threes on her way to a season high 21 point game.
