WBB bounces back with a 79-52 victory over Robert Morris

WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles offense rebounded from last nights loss, scoring a season high 79 points in a 79-52 victory against Robert Morris University in the final game of the Tip Off Classic. CU went 1-1 in the weekend tournament moving their record to 2-1 on the year. Cornerstone will return to Indiana on Tuesday for a game at Indiana Wesleyan at 7 p.m. before opening the conference season at home vs. Siena Heights on Saturday.

Game Flow
Cornerstone got off to a hot start, as Taylor Richards scored eight first quarter points to give CU a 15-12 lead. The Golden Eagles then poured it on in the second quarter outscoring the Eagles 25-6 to take a 40-18 lead into the break. Cass Vredevoogd finished the half with a team high nine points and three rebounds while Jesse Sheridan and Mya Udell combined four seven assists in the first half.

CU added on another 26 points in the third quarter resulting in a 30 point lead for the Golden Eagles at the end of the period. The bench then earned some valuable time to help maintain the strong lead, as the Cornerstone bench scored 36 points led by Taylor Richards with 12, and Mya Udell's nine. The team shot a season high 43.8% from the field with 54 points in the paint on their way to a 79-52 route of Robert Morris.

News and Notes
  • Sophomore guard Jesse Sheridan has surpassed 500 career points after scoring 11 today to bring her to 509 in her career.
  • CU is now 2-2 all-time vs. Robert Morris University, with all four of those games being played under head coach Katie Mattera's reign.

43-36 – Cornerstone starters combined for 43 points while the bench combined for 36.
