GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone women's basketball started strong on Saturday in the regular season finale but the depth of No. 9 Davenport was too much as the Golden Eagles fell 86-55. The loss drops CU to 16-13 on the year and 14-8 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will be the fifth seed in next week's WHAC Tournament as they will open against No. 4 seed Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne at 7 p.m.

Game Flow

Cornerstone fell behind 6-0 early in the first 1:06 but then caught fire from the field and went on a 13-2 run to lead 13-8 with 5:27 to play in the opening quarter. The run was finished by a 3-pointer from Jesse Sheridan (FR/Argyle, Texas) and CU until late in the first quarter but DU closed it on a 14-4 run to lead 22-17

The lead continued to grow for DU in the second quarter and the Panthers went into the locker room leading 43-24. CU did get the margin down to 15 midway through the third quarter but the defense was too much to overcome for the Golden Eagles as they fell on the road.
