ADRIAN, Mich. – Cornerstone was unable to comeback from a slow start at Siena Heights, as they were outscored 22-6 in the first quarter leading to a 72-40 loss. CU now falls to 14-10 for the season and 12-5 in conference play as they will continue the road trip with a matchup at Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at 1 p.m. and a matchup at Concordia a week from tonight.
Game Flow
The Golden Eagles started the game with two turnovers, which led to easy buckets for the Saints as SHU started the game on a 10-0 run. Cornerstone finally got on the board with a three by Jill Steenwyk (SR/Sparta, Mich.), but that was answered by another Siena Heights run of 8-0. Cold shooting and turnovers were the story of the first half for CU as they shot 6-22 from the field and had 11 turnovers leading to a 39-17 halftime deficit.
The struggles continued in to the second half, as Cornerstone could not find any offensive rhythm as Jesse Sheridan (FR/Argyle, Texas) led the team in scoring with nine points. CU was outscored 18-10 in the third giving SHU a 30 point lead with one quarter to play. The fourth quarter was much of the same as the final resulted in a 32 point loss.
